Born Aug. 8, 1928, and Aug. 26, 1930, Harry and Doris Stallings serve as guests of honor, celebrating their 97th and 95th birthdays, Friday, Aug. 8 at Collingsworth County Museum. Guests gathered in the museum’s Ellis Art Center for the 1 p.m. occasion. The Harman County, Okla. natives retired to Wellington in 1993 from Ohio.

Childress Happenings STS SUMMERTIDEThe STS Summertide Championship will take place Saturday, Aug. 16-Sunday, Aug. 17 at the Mashburn Event Center and Arena. Competition will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday with barrels and poles, followed by goat typing at 11 a.m. and breakaway roping at 1 p.m.
