CHILDRESS — Friday, May 3, a Cessna 210, out of Amarillo, practiced locally, and an Embraer Legacy flew in from Arkansas to drop off passengers. The Legacy fueled up and then went to Amarillo to wait out the weekend.
MEMPHIS — Incumbent Joe Davis was re-elected as mayor in the City of Memphis General Election as voters hit the polls Saturday, May 4. Opposed by Jill Cromwell, who received 98 total votes, including 54 early votes, one vote by mail and 43 Election Day votes, Davis received 153 total votes, including 61 early votes, 11 votes by mail and 81 Election Day votes.
WELLINGTON – The Wellington City Council met in regular session at 6 p.m. Monday, April 1 with City Manager Jon Sessions, Mayor Pro-tem Brent Martin and Councilmembers Jimmy Cantu, Jr., Julie Collins and Kenneth Warren present. Also attending were Neal Odom, Clint Thomas, Margret Wood, Karen Caldwell, Grady Cochran, OJD Engineering Amarillo Presdient Che Shadle and City Secretary Sherrie Dunlap. Mayor Larry Adams and Councilman Brandon Ward were unable to attend.

SAN ANTONIO – Wellington High School students and sponsor Erin Smith traveled to San Antonio Friday, May 3-Saturday, May 4 for the Texas eSports Championships. Held at Fiesta Texas, the Overwatch team, including Trinidad Cantu, Benji Garcia, Jacob Klassen, Jaci Porter and Jontae Roland, won their opening round game before falling in rounds two and three on day two.
ABILENE — Nineteen Childress High School students recently competed at the UIL Academic Regional Meet Friday, April 26-Saturday, April 27 at Abilene Christian University, following a district championship at the UIL Academic District Meet in Slaton.
