Memphis tackles tough competition

MEMPHIS — The Memphis Cyclones tackled tough competition this past week, finishing 1-2 in the Hollis Tournament Friday, March 6-Saturday,March 7.On Friday, Memphis kicked off tournament play with a loss to Vernon, 4-12.
Memphis High School seniors Briseyda Cantu and Jordyn Altman visit Oklahoma State University, where they interviewed for a chance at the Thoma Scholarship—a full-ride scholarship which covers the cost of attendance, including tuitions, fees, housing, meals, books and other educational expenses for four years. SHAMROCK — The Wellington Skyrockets downed Shamrock in a 21-3 season opening win Tuesday,March 10 in Shamrock.Leading the Skyrockets, Alex Orozco collected five hits in five at bats, singling in the first, second and fourth innings.

CHILDRESS — The Childress Lady Cats picked up another six consecutive wins, adding to their 11-game win streak, including a 6-0 final at the Floydada Tournament,where the Lady Cats brought home the championship, as well as Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Defensive MVP honors.
