Wellington City Council lowers tax rate

WELLINGTON – The Wellington City Council met in special session at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8 with City Manager Justin Mixon, Mayor Larry Adams and councilmembers Eddie Langford, Brent Martin, Jimmy Cantu Jr. and Kenneth Warren present. Also attending were Clint Thomas and City Secretary Marci Peters.

WELLINGTON — Senior Chairman Ken Pilgrim and Vice Chairman Lonnie Pilgrim, along with the Pilgrim Bank Board of Directors, recently announced the promotion of Gene Pena, of Wellington, to Vice President, Region Lobby Services Officer.

WELLINGTON – For its 86th Annual Drive-Thru Membership Meeting, Greenbelt Electric Cooperative (GEC), Inc. hosted 181 members from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 at 706 10th St. Visitors entered the alley from the north on 9th St.

Calvary Baptist congregation commends first responders

WELLINGTON – The congregation of Calvary Baptist Church transformed its sanctuary into a beautiful banquet hall to honor Collingsworth County first responders with an evening of fun and entertainment at 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28.
Presented by Director of Operations Howard Heath of the Panhandle Regional Advisory Council (P-RAC), Wellington Emergency Medical Services Administrator Samantha “Sam” Blacksher accepts the Texas Panhandle EMS Professional of the Year honor on Thursday, Sept. 18 at Amarillo Civic Center.A graduate of Samnorwood High School, Blacksher obtained her nursing degree at Clarendon College.
