Memphis, Wellington athletes narrowly miss ticket to state

CANYON — Memphis and Wellington athletes narrowly missed the state mark at the Region 1-2A Track and Field Championships Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29 at the West Texas A&M University Track and Field Complex in Canyon.

Lady Cyclones shutout by Sunray

MEMPHIS — The Memphis Lady Cyclones couldn’t keep up with the Sunray Lady Cats Thursday, April 27,ultimately falling in the 10-0 shutout. Despite the loss, a triple by Melanie Espinoza in the first inning was a plus for the Lady Cyclones, who put up three hits.

Childress advances athletes to state track meet

CHILDRESS — Childress left its mark at the Region 1-3A Track and Field Championships Friday, April 28-Saturday, April 29 at Abilene Christian University, tying for third place and advancing the 800-meter and mile relay teams as well as two field competitors.

Skyrockets blank Memphis, thanks to no-hitter by Strickland

WELLINGTON — Thanks to Blake Strickland, who threw a no-hitter,the Wellington Skyrockets blanked the Memphis Cyclones 2-0 for a second-place finish in the district Monday,May 1. With strong pitching on both sides,Strickland struck out seven, while Cyclone Leo Flores sat down four.

Childress, Wellington athletes compete in Bushland Regional Qualifiers Invitational

BUSHLAND — Childress Lady Cat, as well as Wellington Skyrocket and Lady Rocket, regional qualifiers got in some run time before the upcoming regional invitational, competing at the Bushland Regional Qualifiers Invitational Friday, April 21 at Falcon Stadium.
