Mailing of voter registration certificates delayed

CHILDRESS — The Childress County Elections Department, along with counties across the state, are diligently working with the Texas Secretary of State’s Office to mail out renewal voter registration certificates for 2026-2027, Childress County Election Administrator Jennifer Jones said.

Texas Parks & Wildlife Department approves matching grant for renovation of Wellington’s Ellison Park

WELLINGTON – “The Ellison Park Working Group is very excited to announce that on Thursday, Jan. 22, the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) officially awarded a matching grant of $608,966 for the renovation of Ellison Park,” exclaimed committee chairman Neal Odom.

My grandfather, John B. Hardwicke, was a student at Texas A&M Uni ve r si t y when America entered World War I. He and the rest of the student body left to fight the war. His oldest son was at Texas A&M when Pearl Harbor was attacked.
