Childress City Council Reviews Public Founds investmen report

CHILDRESS — Meeting Monday,Oct.30,the City of Childress City Council reviewed a public funds investment report, given by City of Childress Chief Financial Officer Doug Martella. “We had a pretty good year as far as revenue over expenses,” Martella said, reporting 94.34% of revenue and 87.

Hundreds turn out for Childress Main Street’s annual Downtown Trick-or-Treating event

CHILDRESS — Despite the cold, dreary weather, Childress Main Street welcomed over 500 trickor- treaters, as well as over 25 businesses, during the annual Downtown Trick-or-Treating event, which took place Saturday evening, Oct. 28 on Main St. and Commerce St. in downtown Childress.

WELLINGTON – Praise and worship music, led by Bruce and Gwen Howard, will set the tone for the fall revival services at First Baptist Church (FBC) Sunday, Nov. 5-Wednesday, Nov. 8. Regular services will take place at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5 with the first night of revival that evening at 6 p.m.

Memphis native John Ballew publishes ‘The Hall County Gangster: Raymond Ballew’

MEMPHIS — Memphis native John R. Ballew recently published “The Hall County Gangster: Raymond Ballew,” a book about his grandfather, Jefferson Raymond Ballew, a salesman, entrepreneur and bootlegger. “Raymond was the greatest bootlegger in Hall County history,” Ballew said.
