Lucia Rodriguez, 97, of Memphis, Texas, died Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, in Memphis, Texas.

Rosary was said at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in Robertson Funeral Directors Heritage Chapel in Memphis. Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Memphis with Father Jim Schmitmeyer as the celebrant. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Arrangements were by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.

Lucia was born Jan. 26, 1927, in San Benito, Texas, to Luis and Romana Garza Gonzalez. She married Roman Rodriguez in May of 1946 in Edcouch,Texas. They moved to Memphis in 1990 from Crosbyton,Texas.

Lucia was a great homemaker and took care of family first. She was great at sewing and quilting, and she made several quilts for her grandchildren. She was also a great cook and was known for her tortillas. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and lifetime Guadalupana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Sept. 11, 2007; two sons; a daughter; a brother; and two sisters.

She is survived by four sons, Thomas Rodriguez, of Crosbyton, and Bruno Rodriguez, Santiago Rodriguez and Roman Rodriguez Jr., all of Memphis; five daughters, Yolanda Galvan, of Pampa, Texas; Margarita Ortega and Gloria Reyes, both of Memphis, Rachel Rodriguez, of Silverton, Texas, and Candelaria Salinas, of Georgia; a sister, Mary Gonzalez, of Harlingen, Texas; 43 grandchildren; 108 great-grandchildren; and 59 great-great-grandchildren.
