Glen Dale Norman, 88, of Glen Rose, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

Funeral services took place at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Wellington, Texas with Elder Norman Jones, of the Primitive Baptist Church of Elk City, Okla., officiating. Burial with Military Rites followed in North Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements were by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 9 Brandon Wauters, Jeff Speaker, Nathan Ray, Randy Barnett, 1st LT Cody Bodine and Mark Leija served as pallbearers.

Glen was born on Nov. 3, 1935, in Quail, Texas, to Curtis and Rhuia Neeley Norman. He married Linda Hannah on April 13,1957,in Hedley,Texas.

He attended school in Quail and finished his high school education in the U.S. Army, where he served in Panama, guarding the locks of the Panama Canal.

In the early 1960s, Glen was employed by the City of Wellington as a fireman in residence at the fire station. Later, he became a volunteer fireman. He also worked for the city. Then, he began his career with Lone Star Gas as a technician in Wellington. He transferred to Waco, and later to Bryan, where he retired after 29 years of service.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara Ray.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, and daughter Glenda Marie Norman, both of Glen Rose; a sister, Patsy Barnett, of Quanah, Texas; two grandchildren, Andrea Speaker and husband Jeff, of Carrolton, Texas, and Brandon Wauters and wife Mary, of College Station, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Brooke, Bill, Landry, Lane, Ally and Curtis; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Wellington Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 321, Wellington, TX 79095.
