Don “Scragg” O’Rear, 65, of Wellington, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Kenny Lee Tunstall, of Mangum, Okla., officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.
Pallbearers are Quentin O’Rear, Randall Neeley,Trey Mayer, Tryston O’Rear, Jeff Day, Parker O’Rear, Thomas Molina and Joe Ryan O’Rear.
He was born on April 20, 1958, in Wellington, to William L. and Irma Jenkins O’Rear.
Don attended school in Wellington and graduated with the class of 1976.
He lived in Missouri for several years,working in construction, and later, returned to Wellington, where he had farmed for many years. Don loved working the land, and he always raised a bountiful garden that he enjoyed sharing with family and friends.
Don married Brenda Molina Martinez on July 2, 2009, in Wellington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Ronnie O’Rear, Bobby Antoon, Teresa O’Rear, and Jeannie Antoon Duke.
Don is survived by his wife, Brenda, of Wellington; daughter Kali and husband James Arredondo; son Vance O’Rear; and son Randall Cobb, all of Amarillo, Texas; daughter Kimberly Martinez and wife Sarah, of Denver, Colo.; daughter Mary Mayer and husband Trey, of Wellington; daughter Chastity Martinez, of Denver, Colo.; four grandkids, Lincoln Mayer, of Wellington, and Ellie and Luke Arredondo and Declan O’Rear, all of Amarillo; his siblings, Robert O’Rear and wife Kathy, of Bellevue, Wash., and John O’Rear and wife Esperanza, Kathy Ivy and husband Larry, Lori O’Rear Campbell and husband Ed and Richard O’Rear and wife Christie, all of Wellington; a sister- in-law, Diane O’Rear, of Wellington; and many nieces and nephews.
