YOLANDA CASTILLO
Yolanda Castillo, 60, of Memphis, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023.
Mass took place at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Memphis with Father John Sangabathini officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Viewing was held at the funeral home from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20. The Rosary was said at 5 p.m. Arrangements were by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Yolanda was born on Sept. 5, 1963, in Stamford, Texas, to Alejandro and Alicia Salinas Flores. She moved to Memphis in 1974 with her family and has been a member of the community ever since. Yolanda married Nasario Castillo, and they had three children together. She had a career as a cook at the Memphis Convalescent Center for over 15 years. Yolanda attended the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Memphis.
Yolanda deeply loved her pets and was especially fond of her chihuahua dogs. She had a vast collection of Precious Moments Dolls. Yolanda had a giving heart and dedicated her life to serving others. As the oldest daughter in her family, she helped raise her younger siblings. As an adult, she was the Godmother of her many nieces and nephews. Her kindness and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her father, Alejandro; she went to Heaven alongside her mother, Alice; her husband, Nasario Castillo; and her son, Alonzo Castillo.
Yolanda is survived by her daughters, Andrea Medina and husband Gilbert, and Amanda Castillo; seven siblings, including brothers Victor Flores, Alex Flores, Frankie Flores and wife Debbie, Michael Flores, and Adrian Flores and wife Shasta and sisters Emma Vaquera, and Cindy Castillo and husband Lalo; and six grandchildren, Larissa, Nyla, Marrissa, Dominic Christian and Sergio Jr.
