Childress Happenings  STS SUMMERTIDEThe STS Summertide Championship will take place Saturday, Aug. 16-Sunday, Aug. 17 at the Mashburn Event Center and Arena. Competition will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday with barrels and poles, followed by goat typing at 11 a.m. and breakaway roping at 1 p.m.

MEMPHIS — The Memphis Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees was recently selected as a 2025 Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) Texas Honor Board, announced Wednesday, Aug. 6.
Memphis Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) teacher Haley Ollinger is selected as the 2026 Region 16 Secondary Teacher of the Year, awarded by Region 16 Education Service Center Executive Director Tanya Larkin.
