WELLINGTON – The Quail High School Class of 1964 gathered for its 60th reunion at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 30 at the VFW Hall in Wellington.

CHILDRESS – In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, celebrated throughout April, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Rolling Plains is painting the town blue – a step towards raising awareness about the prevention of child abuse and neglect. “Children thrive in safe, stable, nurturing families,”Texas Gov. Greg Abbott shared in a 2023 proclamation, declaring April as Child Abuse Awareness Month. “By establishing partnerships that fortify the bonds between parents and children, Texas can build strong, healthy families and resilient, thriving communities. Sadly, child abuse remains a significant public health issue, but we will continue to identify the risk factors that lead to child abuse and neglect, and by doing so, we will ensure that our children are safe and secure.”

CHILDRESS — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Childress County will hold a Texas Community Futures Forum, an open public discussion with county agencies and residents to address community concerns, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 at the South Plains Electric Cooperative meeting room, located at 1900 Ave. C NW.

BATON ROUGE, La. – Adah Henderson, a 2023 graduate of Childress High School, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Henderson was initiated at The University of Texas at Austin.

CHILDRESS – Modern Home Club met Thursday, March 21 at the Childress County Heritage Museum. Soundra Christy opened the meeting, welcoming members and guests.
