Wellington players receive all-district accolades

WELLINGTON – Eleven Wellington players, including six Lady Rockets and five Skyrockets, earned 2-2A All-District honors. The Lady Rockets finished their history-making season 29-7 as state semi-finalists.

March 16 The junior varsity and varsity Childress Lady Cat softball teams play the Roosevelt Lady Eagles beginning at noon in Childress. The junior varsity and varsity Childress Bobcat baseball teams play the Idalou Wildcats in Idalou. Varsity plays at noon, followed by junior varsity.

March 19 The varsity Memphis Lady Cyclone softball team plays the Quanah Lady Indians at 5 p.m. in Quanah. The varsity Memphis Cyclone baseball team plays the Wellington Skyrockets at 4:30 p.m. in Memphis.

Rocket Regiment competes in spring contest

The Rocket Regiment travels to the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest on Tuesday, March 5 in Panhandle. Not only did the band due a fantastic job marching 15th St. to send our Lady Rockets off last week, but they also put in extra practices to prepare for contest.

March 18 The varsity Wellington Skyrocket tennis teams, including boys’ singles, boys’ doubles and mixed doubles, compete in the Seymour Tennis Tournament in Seymour. March 18-19 The varsity Wellington Skyrocket golf team competes at the Canadian Invitational in Canadian.

Kane, Ortiz take third in Borger

‘Little’ Lady Rockets earn Shamrock championship

Third through sixth-grade Lady Rockets competed in the fifth/sixth-grade division in the Shamrock Tournament mid-February, winning the championship. In the first game, the Lady Rockets played Ft. Elliott, winning 44-0. Second, they played sixth-grade Wheeler, winning 25-11.

Skyrocket golf competes in Canyon

Skyrocket golfers compete in the recent 2A regional preview in Canyon. Miles Ouellette led the team, shooting an 80, followed by Gatlin Guy with an 83, Gunner Guy with a 91, Conner Kane with a 98 and Travis Tillman with a 100, for a team total of 352. Coach Klark Ashmore accompanied the team.
