Childress’ Cutter Bruce was recently nominated for Coaches Corner’s Boys Basketball Elite Play of the Week, going head-to-head with 10 other area players for the title. Narrowly missing the winning vote by three percent, Bruce was bested by Shelbyville’s DJ Barnes, who won with a 20% fan vote.

The Wellington Skyrockets went 4-1 in the Thursday, Dec. 5-Saturday, Dec. 7 Nazareth Tournament, ending with a huge win over the tourney host and state-ranked Nazareth Swifts during the consolation championship with a final score of 47-40.
