Lady Cyclones succumb to Clarendon

MEMPHIS — The Memphis Lady Cyclones couldn’t keep up Monday, March 24, succumbing to Clarendon in a 14-1 district final.Despite the loss, a bright spot for the Lady Cyclones— and the sole run— came on a homerun to left field by Kalie Murphy in the bottom of the fifth.

Memphis’ Mike Thomas takes on the Texas High School Powerlifting Association State Championships Saturday, March 22 in Abilene. Competing in weight class 275, Thomas secured a 12th place finish, squatting 535 pounds, bench pressing 320 pounds and deadlifting 540 pounds for a total of 1,395 pounds.

WELLINGTON — Opening district play, the Wellington Skyrockets soared to a 2-0 start,downing Quanah and Floydada.Bypassing Quanah in a 7-3 final on Friday, March 21, the Skyrockets were led by TJ Salinas, who struck out 10 batters, allowing five hits and two runs over four innings while walking one.
