Area athletes compete in Bobcat Relays

CHILDRESS — Childress, Memphis and Wellington track and field athletes recently competed in the Bobcat Relays Thursday, March 27 in Childress.Earning silver, the Childress Bobcats put up 106 points, followed by Wellington in third place with 104 points and Memphis in 11th place with one point.

Childress’ Taylor Wiseman, a University of Oregon commit, recently took gold in discus at the 97th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Wednesday, March 26-Saturday, March 29 at The University of Texas at Austin’s Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium in Austin, throwing 157’4”.

RUSSELLVILLE, ARK. — Cementing her legacy, Lubbock Christian University (LCU) Lady Chaparral Grace Foster, a 2021 graduate of Childress High School, was recently named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-America Team.

Bobcats come up short against Bushland, Tulia

CHILDRESS — Despite a strong effort by Cash Hightower, who collected four hits in four at bats, the Childress Bobcats came up short to Bushland in a 12-8 final Friday, March 28. Hightower singled in the third and sixth innings and doubled in the first and fifth innings.

Lady Cats nab wins over Tulia, Canadian

CHILDRESS — The Childress Lady Cats nabbed two additional district wins this past week, bringing their overall district record to 3-2.Against Tulia, Ansley Parr rang up 15 strikeouts during Childress’ 15-1 victory, surrendering one hit and one run over five innings while walking one.
