Childress summer camps welcome over 90 student-athletes

Through the Lens of LizLady Cat Volleyball Camp welcomes student-athletes, ranging from third-sixth grade, for a three-day summer camp Monday, June 2-Wednesday June 4. Overall, 90 student-athletes have turned out for summer volleyball, basketball, track and weightlifting, coaches said.

Texas Panhandle Track and Field Club secures gold at RUN West Texas meet

AMARILLO — Texas Panhandle Track and Field Club athletes recently competed at the RUN West Texas track and field meet Saturday, May 17 at River Road High School in Amarillo, bringing home five gold medals.
Wellington Prime Elite first-second grade (33-6) team members win back-to-back tournaments Saturday, May 10 and Friday, May 23-Saturday, May 24 in Amarillo. With plans to compete in Lubbock this June, the team looks to keep improving on the season. Wellington Aquatic VenueUnder direction of Denise Garcia and Lana Tillman, the Wellington Aquatic Venue (WAV) has plans to open Saturday, May 31, weather permitting. Hours of operation are 1-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 2-6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $7, and ages three and under are free.

Lady Cats named to all-district softball teams

CHILDRESS — Nine Childress Lady Cats, including sophomore pitcher Ansley Parr, who was selected as the Defensive Most Valuable Player, were recently named to 2025 District 1-3A All-District softball teams.

Wellington’s Lewis signs with Langston University

WELLINGTON – Surrounded by his family and witnessed by the Wellington High School (WHS) coaches, student body and staff, senior DeMarcus Lewis signed a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday morning, May 6 to transition from a Skyrocket to a Langston University Lion as a member of its track team.
