Memphis ISD hosts Back to School Bash, Meet the Cyclones

The Red River Sun/Elizabeth TannerMemphis Independent School District (ISD) welcomes back students during the annual Back to School Bash, followed by Meet the Cyclones, Friday, Aug. 8 at Memphis City Park. Students returned to campus for the official first day of school Tuesday, Aug. 12.

WELLINGTON Around 50 athletes turned out for opening day of 2025 Skyrocket football “two-a-days” Monday morning, Aug. 4. Wellington Independent School District (ISD) Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Greg Proffitt anticipates gaining even more players when school begins Wednesday, Aug. 13.

The Childress Lil Cats tackle football team will kick off the 2025 season against Holiday Saturday, Sept. 13. On opponent turf, third and fourth grade will play at 6 p.m., followed by fifth and sixth grade at 8 p.m. Gate fees will be $5 for adults and $3 for students.
