Bobcats take on Tatum Tough Tournament championship

CANYON — The Childress Bobcats made it to the championship game during the Tatum Tough Tournament, a basketball tournament honoring Canyon High School head boys’ basketball coach Travis Schulte’s daughter, Tatum, who passed away in 2017 at the age of nine after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Jan. 5 The junior varsity and varsity Childress Bobcat and Lady Cat basketball teams play Idalou in Idalou.The junior varsity Lady Cats play at 2:15 p.m., followed by the varsity Lady Cats at 3:30 p.m., the junior varsity White Bobcats at 4 p.m., the junior varsity Blue Bobcats at 5 p.m.

Prior to Christmas break, Memphis High School floral design students complete their December projects, which include tin cans, painted and decorated to fit a winter or holiday theme, filled with fresh evergreen branches and fresh flowers.

JV Lady Rockets earn consolation championship

The junior varsity Lady Rockets win the consolation bracket at the Groom Varsity Tournament Saturday, Dec. 30. Going 2-1, Wellington lost to Sanford Fritch’s varsity on Thursday, Dec. 28 before taking down Groom’s varsity 40-29 on Friday, Dec. 29 and San Jacinto’s varsity 56-52 on the final day.
