Childress, Memphis lifters compete in Childress Girls Powerlifting Meet

CHILDRESS — Competing in the Childress Girls Powerlifting Meet Thursday, Jan. 11, the Memphis Lady Cyclones took home the championship, thanks to first-place lifts by Aileen Martinez, Katrina Torres, Lizzie Valle and Jacqueline Villanueva.

CHILDRESS — Childress Bobcat Aiden Allen, a senior guard, was recently selected as the Press Pass Sports First United Bank Boys Athlete of the Week, announced Wednesday, Jan. 10.

Jan. 19 The junior varsity and varsity Childress Bobcat and Lady Cat basketball teams play Liberty in Childress. The junior varsity Blue Bobcats and junior varsity Lady Cats play at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity Lady Cats at 6:15 p.m. and the varsity Bobcats at 7:15 p.m. Jan.

Childress takes on Abernathy

The Childress Bobcats and Lady Cats take on Abernathy Tuesday, Jan. 9 in Childress. The Bobcats walked away with a 58-36 win, while the Lady Cats took a tumble in a 56-36 loss.

Collingsworth County Livestock Show in the books

Fifty-four youth exhibited almost 100 animals Saturday, Jan. 13 during the 2024 Collingsworth County Livestock Show at Wellington Fairgrounds. Despite the frigid temperatures, a crowd turned out to cheer for the students and their livestock projects.
