Feb. 2 The junior varsity and varsity Childress Bobcat and Lady Cat basketball teams play the Abernathy Antelopes and Lady Lopes in Abernathy. The junior varsity Blue Bobcats and junior varsity Lady Cats play at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity Lady Cats at 6:15 p.m.

CHILDRESS — Competing in the Childress Boys Powerlifting Meet Thursday, Jan. 18, the Childress Bobcats took a second-place team finish, earning 34 points, thanks to first-place lifts by Ethan Ferguson,Junior Hicks,Adrian Macias and Jaden Rodriguez.

WELLINGTON — With the proximity of the rivalry and following the drama of the girls’ game, the second half of the Clarendon-Wellington doubleheader between the schools’ respective boys’ teams had a hard time conjuring up intrigue and suspense.
