AMARILLO — All eyes in Texas high school sports were fixed on the same thing Thursday, Feb. 1 – the 20242026 University Interscholastic League (UIL) Biennial Realignment and Reclassification.

CHILDRESS — Competing in the Childress Boys Powerlifting Meet, Childress’ Adrian Macias was the sole Bobcat to take a firstplace finish Thursday, Feb. 1, squatting 445 pounds, bench pressing 365 pounds and deadlifting 450 pounds for a 1,260-pound total in weight class 275.

AMARILLO — Childress’ Aiden Allen and Wellington’s Bryant Tarver were recently nominated for the Amarillo Globe-News Midseason Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Barely missing the mark, Allen earned 16,880 votes, just shy of Levi Ashurst’s 20,472-vote win. Tarver received more than 1,000 votes.
