ZELBERT DEAN ‘ZEB’ ROBERSON
Zelbert Dean “Zeb” Roberson, 86, of Wellington,Texas, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2024.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at the First Christian Church with Bro. Bill Roberson, pastor of the Full Gospel Church in Atoka, Okla., and Johnny Hoggatt, pastor of the Faith Baptist Church in Wellington, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.
Pallbearers are Terry Floyd, Jason West, Grant Floyd, Kaden Hunter, Conner Bowen, Rance Fires and Jackson Floyd.
Zeb was born on Feb. 20, 1938, in Lane, Okla., to Elmer E. and Ruth D. Sheffield Roberson. He was a high school graduate and attended college for two years.
He served in the U.S.Army from 1955-1958, including 15 months in Korea and was honorably discharged into the Army Reserves until 1963.
Zeb married Patsy Joan Lee on July 13, 1955, in Wellington. He retired as a foreman from Ranchers Cotton Oil Mill in Fresno, Calif. in 1978, when they moved to Wellington. Here, Zeb served as an electrical foreman for Southwestern Rail Co.,and together, he and Pat bought the restaurant, which became Roberson’s Restaurant. Throughout that time and until recent years, Zeb enjoyed farming and ranching.
He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church and served as a Collingsworth County Commissioner from 1988-2006.
Zeb was preceded in death by his father, Elmer; mother and stepfather, Ruth and Jack Crews; five brothers, Leroy, Carl, Junior, Leon and Chester; and a sister, Dorothy Cole.
He is survived by his wife, Pat, of Wellington; two daughters, Shannon West and husband Danny, of Wellington, and Deborah Floyd, of Wheeler, Texas; three brothers, Charles Roberson, of Lane, Okla., S.L. Roberson, of Ada, Okla., and Bill Roberson, of Atoka, Texas; a sister, Lillie Mae James, of Farris, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Terry Floyd and Lauren, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Jason West, of Amarillo, Texas, Leann Floyd, of Sunray, Texas, Carrie Wiles and Wade, of Memphis,Texas, Tracie West and Jr Molina, of Wellington, Grant Floyd and Hannah,of Weatherford, Okla., and Karen Schoenhals and David, of Arapaho, Okla.; and 17 great-grandchildren.
