WELLINGTON — With Judge John James presiding, the Commissioners Court of Collingsworth County recently met for its regular meeting with Pct. 1 Commissioner Farris Nation, Pct. 2 Commissioner James Ellis, Pct. 3 Commissioner Joel Sherwood and Pct. 4 Commissioner Kirby Campbell present.
Also in attendance were County Clerk Jackie Johnson, Country Treasurer Gina Harris, Justice of the Peace Jo Rita Henard, Veterans Service Officer Epifanio “Jr.” Castillo and Road Administrator Tal Henard.
The court heard reports from each department head present, plus County Tax Assessor Sharon Chisum, Sheriff Kent Riley and Chief Appraiser Dwight Bowen.
The court approved James to file with Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts for unclaimed Capital Credits and took no action on Texas County and District Retirement System changes for 2023.
Using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, the court approved the $90,000 down payment on a front-end loader for Road and Bridge.
In other business, the court approved the Tax Assessor/Collector employee to be full-time, beginning Oct. 1 and approved a single signature for county checks, that being the country treasurer, deputy treasurer or county clerk.
The court approved payment of all claims. The meeting adjourned at 11:41 a.m.
The next meeting is at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12 upstairs in the courthouse.
