AMARILLO — Finishing in the gold bracket, the Childress Lady Cats defeated Wildorado, West Texas High and Highland Park at the recent, twoday River Road Tournament, tying for third place with a 3-2 overall record.
Kicking the tournament off Friday, Aug. 19, the Lady Cats swept Wildorado 2-0 (26-24, 26-24) and West Texas High 2-0 (26-24, 28-26), while falling 2-1 (17-25, 25-19, 20-25) to Dalhart, for a 2-1 finish on the day.
Going 1-1 on Saturday, Aug. 20, the Lady Cats picked up their final win against Highland Park, 2-0 (25-22, 26-24), and a loss against Lubbock All Saints, 2-0 (7-25, 22-25), to finalize their thirdplace triumph.
Following the tournament, the Lady Cats took on West Plains Tuesday, Aug. 23, ultimately falling 3-0 (6-25, 15-25, 13-15).
Next, the Childress Lady Cats (7-4) compete in the Denver City Tournament Friday, Aug. 26 and Saturday, Aug. 27. Times are to be announced.
