Altruism: The world needs it

We’re back to Ron Chernow’s recent biography of Mark Twain, the famous American who came and went with Halley ’s comet. I n Tw a i n’s dark world, there is no alt ruism. What looks like altruism, according to Twain, is just a more subtle form of self-interest. I challenge that view.

The Memphis Independent School District (ISD) Health and Wellness Parent-Student Engagement organization will host a Pumpkin Painting Party at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 at the First Bank and Trust Bronze Room. In addition to painting pumpkin, an internet safety lesson will be given for parents. Pumpkins and paint will be provided, but guests are welcome to bring a pumpkin from home, organizers said.
