Baker named TxDOT Childress Assistant Area Engineer

CHILDRESS — Jordan Baker, P.E., was recently named the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Childress District Assistant Area Engineer. Baker, who earned his license as a profession engineer in December 2024, will assume duties in the Childress Area Office on Saturday, March 4.

CHILDRESS — Tuesday, Feb. 18, a Piper Meridian fueled up on its way home to Alaska.Friday, Feb. 21, a Cessna 172 working in the area stopped in for fuel, and a Cessna 182 fueled up on its way from Indiana to California.

WELLINGTON — In an effort to help the citizens of Wellington, as well as other surrounding areas, H&R Block, of Childress, will be coming to Wellington.Tax Specialists will be in the dining hall at the Wellington Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6439, located at 16230 FM 338,from 2-4 p.m.

Dollar General robbed at gunpoint; suspect apprehended in Amarillo

CHILDRESS — After robbing two Dollar General locations at gunpoint, Kevin Brassalle Allen, 22, was booked into the Potter County Jail on Thursday, Feb. 20 on a Wichita County warrant for aggravated robbery.The Childress Police Department received a call from the Childress location at 6:28 p.m.

Childress City Council approves sewer jetter purchase

CHILDRESS — Meeting Friday, Feb. 21, the City of Childress City Council approved a cooperative purchasing agreement contract with Sourcewell for a sewer jetter.Receiving three bids, the city accepted the lowest bid, from Texas Municipal Equipment, priced at $87,879.20 with cold water.
