    School Holidays
    Due to the increase of Covid-19 cases in Collingsworth County, Wellington ISD extended Thanksgiving break to include Monday, Nov. 23 and Tuesday, Nov. 24. School will start back on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

    Public Meetings
    Wellington City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7 at City Hall. Collingsworth County Commissioners meet at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14 upstairs in the courthouse.

    Chamber Event
    Collingsworth County Chamber of Commerce “Christmas on the Bricks” at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec.6 will feature the lighting of the square and red tickets sales by chamber members for $10 each. Drawings will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14 at at Cowboy Coffee. Masks and social distancing COVID protocol will be observed at all events.

    Collingsworth Public Library is closed for the Thanksgiving holiday but typically open 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Check out the 2020 Texas state capitol Christmas ornaments. Find the library on Facebook, email library79095@gmail.com or call 806-447-3183.

    * LOCATION CHANGE *
    Al-Anon Meetings will be held in First United Methodist Church (201 Ave. D NE – Childress) every Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. Al-Anon is a mutual support group of peers who share hope and encouragement related to the effects of an alcoholic in their lives.

    SIREN TESTING
    The tornado siren is tested at noon the third Friday of each month. If there is inclement weather, the siren will not be tested.

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
    Meals on Wheels needs substitute volunteer delivery drivers for about 30 minutes Monday-Friday. Contact: 940-937-6655.

    1ST FRIDAY SENIOR COFFEE CLUB
    Senior citizens are invited to join Childress Healthcare Center, 1200 7th St. NW, for complimentary, donuts, coffee and dominoes.

    SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER
    1 p.m. Monday: games. Noon Thursday: meals. 6 p.m. Friday: games. Bring a dish to share, a donation or both. Located at 403 S Main St. Call 940-937-1313 or 940-4750-1320.

    BREAKFAST WITH THE KING
    Come eat breakfast at the First United Methodist Church on the first Monday of every month.

    LEGAL AID CLINIC
    10 a.m.-noon on the 2nd Friday of each month on the 1st floor of the Hall County Courthouse.

    LOW IMPACT EXERCISE CLASS
    Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a m., at the Memphis Library, 303 South 8th St. Any age is welcome, there is no cost and no special clothing or footwear are required.

    STREET LIGHT OUTAGES
    Citizens are asked to please notice where street lights are out, and to report at the SWEPCO website, swepco.com, or contact City Hall at 806-259-3001.

    REPORT HAZARDS TO THE CITY
    Citizens are asked to report potholes, fallen tree limbs and any other concerns to City Hall at 806-259-3001.

    SENIOR CITIZENS
    The Senior Citizens meet the second Friday of the month for lunch at Memphis Housing Authority office on 5th St. Call Orvilla Evans: 806-259-2056.
