Childress Vehicle Registration Office to be closed July 31-Aug. 3

CHILDRESS — The Vehicle Registration Office will be closed Monday, July 31-Thursday, Aug. 3 as employees will be attending the Election Law Seminar in Austin. The office will reopen Friday, Aug. 4. To accommodate customers, the office will be open during lunch hours, from noon-1 p.m.

McDonald’s hosts Meet the First Responders of Childress event

CHILDRESS — Mc-Donald’s hosted Meet the First Responders of Childress Wednesday, July 12, an event highlighting local first responders and law enforcement, including the Childress Fire Department, which received a $500 donation on behalf of McDonald’s.
Childress Community Chorus will present “80’s Ladies and Friends Music Revue” at 7 p.m. Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22 and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 23 at the Palace Theater. A donation of $10 is suggested at the door. Proceeds will help fund a music scholarship for a high school senior. For more information, contact Linda Gooch at 940-585-8967. CHILDRESS — Wednesday, July 12, a Beechcraft King Air picked up passengers on its way from Midland to Arizona, a Bell Jet Ranger helicopter dropped in for fuel and a King Air medevac picked up a patient.

Missing person alert in Childress - FOUND

CHILDRESS — Juan Gilberto "Gilbert" Hernandez, 79, has been missing since 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 9. He was last seen at 711 9th St., Childress. He was driving a blue, two-door Ford F-150 and wearing a reddish-brown polo shirt, khaki pants, cowboy boots and a red ball cap with a Marine Corps emblem.
