AMARILLO — Childress and Wellington players were recently named to Amarillo Globe-News’ “Top performers in football from the last week in the Texas Panhandle,” announced, Monday Oct. 30, as well as Press Pass Sports’ “Top 10 Texas Panhandle football performers from Week 10.,” announced Sunday, Oct. 29.

AMARILLO — Childress’ Da’Reon Mathis and Wellington’s Carson Tarver are among 10 male high school athletes across the Texas Panhandle competing for the title of Amarillo Globe-News’ Happy State Bank Male Athlete of the Week.

CHILDRESS — The Childress Bobcats pulled a 65-7 senior-night win over the Dimmitt Bobcats Friday night, Oct. 27 at Fair Park Stadium,thanks to senior running back Da’Reon Mathis, who put up a whopping 271 yards on 20 carries, finding the endzone six different times, including a 62-yard run for a score in the second quarter.

Nov. 3 The varsity Childress Bobcat football team plays the Friona Chieftains at 7 p.m.

CHILDRESS — Rebounding from a tough loss to archrival Canadian last week, the Childress Bobcats picked up their first district win of the season, stinging the Tulia Hornets in a 56-6 home win. Forcing three turnovers, the Bobcats’ defense held the hornets to 56 total yards and 1-of-8 on third down conversions.

CHILDRESS — Following two consecutive losses, the Childress Bobcats finally snapped the streak, thumping the Bowie Jackrabbits in a 41-13 homecoming win Friday night, Sept. 22 at Fair Park Stadium.
