LEWISVILLE — Childress junior wide receiver Lamont Nickleberry was recently nominated for the Texas Bowl Mr. Texas Football Player of the Week selected by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.
Racking up nine catches, 220 yards and three receiving touchdowns in his Week 4 performance against the Shallowater Mustangs, Nickleberry sits among nine other players nominated for the award, including Bellville’s Robert Briggs, Corpus Christi’s Jaedyn Brown, Eldorado’s Korbin Covarrubiaz, Stephenville’s Coy Eakin, Texarkana Liberty-Eylau’s Cal Jones, Canutillo’s LJ Martin, Katy Morton Ranch’s Santana Scott, Lake Dallas’s Brendan Sorsby and Glen Rose’s Hudson White.
At the end of the high school football season, 10 finalists will be nominated for a chance at the 2021 Mr. Texas Football Award, which will be announced prior to the Texas Bowl played at NRG Stadium in Houston on Jan. 4.
A Mr. Texas Football Player of the Week winner will be announced at noon on Friday, Sept. 24.
