LaRoy Hightower, 76, passed away Monday, Sept. 13, 2021.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, in Tell Methodist Cemetery in Tell, Texas. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
LaRoy was born Oct. 12, 1944, in Tell to Laymon Oliver Hightower and Virginia Groseclose Hightower. His heart was in farming, but he also was an owner/operator truck driver. He met the love of his life, Ruth Sims Hart, and decided to make it official on Oct.16, 2000. LaRoy enjoyed talking on the phone with his trucking buddies, drinking coffee, watching westerns, watching WWE and the Dallas Cowboys.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Shawn; daughter, LaSonda; granddaughter, Mindy Hightower; brothers, Dan, Bud, Mickie, Babe, Ricky; and a sister, Douf Helms.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of Panhandle, Texas; sons, Kevin Hightower and wife Bridgett, of Dalhart, Texas, Jimmy Boen and wife D’Ann Swain, of Panhandle; daughters, Brenda Woods and husband Murry, of Elgin, Texas, Kelly Richardson and husband Jimmy of Dalhart; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; brothers, Dale Hightower and wife Marcella, of Childress, Texas, Tommy Hightower and wife Becky, of Childress; sister, Jeanette Whitehead and husband Aubrey, of McKinney, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
