Area youth qualify for Hooey Jr. Patriot, win big at STS Jr. Championship Summertide

CHILDRESS — Area youth, including Childress’ Colee Cox and Sterling Bruce, won big at the STS Junior Championship Summertide held Friday, Aug. 20 through Sunday, Aug. 22.

Offering Hooey Junior Patriot qualification in nine events, including barrels, 12-under breakaway, 15-under breakaway, 19-under breakaway, 15-under goat tying, 19-under goat tying, 12-under tiedown, 15-under tiedown and 19-under tiedown, Cox qualified in three events.

Qualifying in both the 15-under and 19-under breakaway, Cox won a total of $572 and a saddle blanket in the 15-under division, averaging a time of 10.80. Cox also qualified in the 19-under goat tying on two entries.
