CHILDRESS – The 133rd Childress County Old Settlers Queen and King are Larry and Carolyn Carrick.=
“It is an honor to be selected to serve as the Old Settlers King and Queen for the longest running rodeo in Texas,” said Carrick, whose memories of the rodeo and parade stretch back to when she was just a little girl. “Childress is home.”
She recalled going to Palace Theater with her family to watch the Old Settlers parade. “We always went to the parade when they had the Old Settlers barbecue,” she added. “My daddy was right in the mix of it. He was down there barbecuing.”
