CHILDRESS – Childress Regional Medical Center’s hematology and oncology doctor Dr. Fred Hardwicke is now permanent.

Instead of driving to Childress from Lubbock for appointments once every three weeks, Hardwicke now sees cancer and blood disorders patients Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. While he’s focused on hematology and oncology for the last 31 years, Hardwicke said he also sees internal medicine patients.

“They (CRMC) have many wonderful providers, and they’re covering a lot of services,” Hardwicke said. “I’m happy to work with a lot of adult patients with various medical problems.”

When it comes to just cancer patients, Hardwicke said CRMC treats a seven-county region in Texas comprising 2% of the area of Texas, as well as a small portion of Oklahoma. “We’re hoping to expand our borders to have a larger representation from counties that sit around those counties,” he explained.
