Roberto Cantu “Moose” Saldana, 67 of Wellington, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021.
Memorial graveside services took place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 12 in Fairview Cemetery arranged by his family. Burial with military rites followed. Cremation arrangements were by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.
Moose was born on February 27, 1954 in Denver City to Alfredo and Maria Cantu Saldana. He attended school in Wellington.
He served six years in the Texas Army National Guard. He worked as a laborer in agriculture when able and sold firewood for many years. He loved cooking and eating!
Moose was a member of the Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rosalinda Garcia; a brother, Marcial Saldana, Sr.; two nephews, Jermey Delarosa and Marcial Saldana, Jr. and a niece, Margie Garcia.
His survivors include four sisters, Rosaro Sanchez and her husband Frank of Shattuck, Okla., Irene Torrez and Raymond Aguirre of Shamrock, Mary Vitela and her husband David of Dumas and Sylvia Flores and her husband Jaime of Amarillo; three brothers, Alfred Saldana, Jr. and his wife Cary of Lubbock, Joe Saldana and his wife Sylvia of Grand Forks, N.D. and Rodney Saldana and his wife Amy of Grafton, N.D.; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
