CHILDRESS – Childress High School seniors Grace Foster and Lane Foster were named the 2020-2021 All-Sports Most Valuable Athletes at the All-Sports Banquet on May 17.
Lane, who was awarded MVP in football, baseball and track, competed in varsity football, varsity basketball, varsity baseball and varsity track his senior year.
In football, the 5’10”, 165 lb. quarterback was selected to the All-District Second Team and Academic All-State Team.
In basketball, Lane was named an All-District Honorable Mention and selected to the Academic All-District Team, Texas High School Coaches Association’s (THSCA) Academic All-State Second Team and Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ (TABC) Academic All-State Team.
Lane was also named to the All-District Baseball First Team and a regional qualifier in the 110-meter hurdles.
On the other hand, Grace, who was awarded MVP in volleyball, basketball and tennis, competed in varsity volleyball, varsity basketball and varsity tennis her senior year.
In volleyball, Grace, a middle hitter, was named District Co-MVP, selected to the Academic All-State Team and chosen as a Press Pass Sports Honorable Mention.
In basketball, the 6’1” power forward and shooting guard, capped 2,150 career points. She was also named District Co-MVP and selected to the Press Pass Sports’ First Team, TABC’s All-Region Team and TABC’s All-State Team.
Lane and Grace were only two of the 132 student-athletes, including 27 seniors, honored at the All-Sports Banquet this year.
“I feel blessed to have such great kids representing our community,” Athletic Director Jason Sims said. “All of the honors that they earned are well deserved. I couldn’t be prouder of them.”
