CHILDRESS – The Childress City Pool made quite a splash when it opened its doors on Friday, May 28.

Despite weather in the 70s on May 28, it did not deter 79 people from jumping in on opening day, lifeguard Bailey Bradley said. Seven-year-old Zion Hall was one of the first to walk through the doors.

“I haven’t swam in a long time,” said Hall, who missed the pool being closed last year.

“We’re excited to bring the community together with our City Pool,” said Miranda McCurley, who runs the Childress City Pool. “It’s a fun place. Our lifeguards are providing a safe atmosphere for families.”

After being closed last year, lifeguard Joshua Tucker was all smiles watching the kids swim and listening to their splashes and laughter.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the kids smile again,” said. “It will be good to see the kids having fun and the community having a good time.”
