CHILDRESS – A three-vehicle crash outside of Childress on Tuesday, April 6 left five-year-old Xander Wade Martin dead, according to a preliminary crash investigation from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

At approximately 4 p.m. the Childress County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Highway Patrol (THP), Childress Fire and EMS responded to an accident at the intersection of FM 2530 and FM 268, according to a release from the Childress County Sheriff’s Office. TxDOT also assisted with traffic control.

The crash involved a 2015 Ford flatbed ranch truck pulling an empty stock trailer driven by Wes McKee of Childress, a 2011 Jeep driven by Precilla Garrison of Childress, in which the child was a passenger, and a four-door sedan driven by Jaden Talley of Memphis, the Childress County Sheriff’s Office release stated.
