SLATON – With Slaton scoring three runs on two stolen bases and a single in the first inning, the Childress Lady Cats fell 15-5 in an early defeat on Tuesday, March 30.
Surrendering an additional five runs in the fourth inning, the Lady Cats struggled to put runs on the board as Slaton’s offense ran up the score, snagging 17 hits.
Pitching, Jena Preston gave up 11 runs on 13 hits over three innings, striking out three. Abi Galyean started the game for the Lady Cats, surrendering four runs on four hits over one and one-third innings, walking one.
Aiding the Lady Cats in racking up 11 hits on the day, Preston, Laura Garza, Galyean, Abi McCraw and Sammie Juarez each had collected two hits, Preston’s being homers. Kenzlee Carroll had the most chances in the field with four.
The Lady Cats (17-4) challenged the Idalou Lady Cats on Tuesday, April 6. Results were unavailable at press time.
