CHILDRESS – Scoring on a groundout, double and walk in the first inning, Abernathy was able to secure an early lead over the Childress Bobcats in a 12-1 final on Tuesday, March 30.
Struggling to contain Abernathy’s high-powered offense, the Bobcats surrendered 12 runs, six of which were scored in the fifth inning thanks to walks and singles.
On the mound, Stone Smith allowed three hits and zero runs over two-third of an inning, walking zero. Zion Fuller started the game for the Bobcats, surrendering nine runs on 11 hits over four and a thirds innings, striking out two.
Leading the Bobcats’ six hits was Lane Foster who went two-for-three at the plate.
Picking up play on Friday, April 2, the Bobcats took another loss. This time in a 10-1 final against Shallowater, who took the lead on a home run in the first inning.
Getting the Bobcats’ offense started, Scout Smith grounded out, scoring one run.
Smith led the Bobcats with one run batted in. He also had the most chances in the field with eight.
The Bobcats (9-6) challenged the Roosevelt Eagles on Tuesday, April 6. Results were unavailable at press time.
