WELLINGTON — Lady Rocket junior Kyla Kane earned accolades being named to the 2021 All-Press Pass Sports Second team this week.
With the spot in the top-12 area Press Pass Sports players, the 5-10 guard was a bright spot for the Lady Skyrockets during their run to the Region I-2A finals, wrote Kale Steed in the Sunday press release. The junior got better and better as the season went on averaging 16 points a game to go along with 5.5 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 2.3 assists.
For her efforts, Kane was named District 2-2A Co-Offensive MVP, as well as a Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All-State selection and Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) All-Region and All-State teams.
Senior Sicily Sumrall was named District 2-2A 1st Team All-District in addition to the TGCA All-State team and TABC All-Region team. Junior Hadlee Gomez earned District 2-2A 1st Team All-District honors as well as being a selection to the TABC All-Region team.
Named District 2-2A Newcomer of the Year is Lady Rocket freshman Presley Kane. Sophomore Asia Shrubs and freshman Keylonai Shrubs made the District 2-2A Honorable Mention All-District list of standouts.
The Lady Rockets ended their 2020-2021 season at 23-6 and made their second trip ever to the regional finals this year. Also under Coach Chris Sumrall, the first time was in 2019.

Junior Hadlee Gomez – District 2-2A 1st Team All-District, TABC All-Region team.
Freshman Presley Kane – District 2-2A Newcomer of the Year.
Sophomore Asia Shrubs – District 2-2A Honorable Mention All-District.
Freshman Keylonai Shrubs – District 2-2A Honorable Mention All-District.
