CHILDRESS – For those who gave up meat for Lent, Golden Chick has a brand-new hand-battered Alaska cod filet, and they brought back the butterfly shrimp from last year.
“We think this is something special to do during Lent,” said Childress Golden Chick owner Rick Hatcher. “We would like people to come try it.”
The Alaska cod filet comes in three different combos. The cod sandwich, which includes a hand-battered Alaska cod filet topped with creamy tartar sauce, five pickles and coleslaw served on a fresh brioche bun, is $4.99. It’s also available as a combo with a side and 30-ounce drink for $7.99.
The hand-battered cod filet combo is an Alaska cod filet served with two sides, fresh-baked yeast roll, tartar sauce and a 30-ounce drink. It’s 7.99. The crispy and crunchy cod and shrimp combo includes a hand-battered Alaska cod filet served with three butterfly shrimp, two sides, fresh-baked yeast roll, cocktail and tartar sauce and a 30-ounce drink. It’s $8.99.
The butterfly shrimp can be added to any of these meals for $1.99. Hatcher said he trained his team on the new menu items last week.
“It’s a limited time deal,” Hatcher added. Because of Snowmageddon, they were a little behind in getting the new items on their menu, but the Alaska cod and butterfly shrimp will be on the menu through May 23. The Cholula mac and cheese is still on the menu too.
“We’re happy to be here,” Hatcher added. “Our goal is to exceed every guest’s expectations. Helping other people is what we’re here for.”
Hatcher said they’re hiring if anyone is looking for a job. “Golden Chick is a great opportunity,” he said. “Come join our team.”
