WELLINGTON — Lions Club members finalized plans for their Super Bowl pulled pork fundraiser during the Feb. 1 meeting. Lion Neal Odom recruited volunteers to sell tickets and staff the event set for Sunday, Feb. 7.
Boss Lion Rex Henard welcomed the crowd. Lion Shirley Henard led the pledge the American flag and Lion Noemi Pena led the pledge to the Texas flag. Lion Jeff Pastor offered the invocation.
Lion Paul Schaub led in singing “America the Beautiful” accompanied by Lion Shirley Henard on the piano.
Following the evening meal, Sweetheart Dani Ponder showed video footage of her Texas Army National Guard Basic Combat Training in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. last summer. She explained the three phases of the 10-week program, red, white and blue. Ponder stated that she found most interesting the land map and first aid classes.
Ponder thanked the club for sponsoring her in the recent District 2-T1 Lions queen contest in Amarillo during the mid-winter cabinet meeting.
