Arthur Tudor “Art” Sumrall, age 77 of Wellington, died January 9, 2021 in Pittsburgh, Penn.
Cremation and a private family memorial took place.
Born February 5, 1943 to Alton and Mildred Sumrall in Sweetwater, Texas, Art graduated from Slaton High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
After returning from Vietnam, Art began a career in law enforcement and served as a police officer in Rotan, Snyder and Big
Spring. In 1971, he joined the United State Customs where he worked as a sky marshal and later as an assistant special agent-in-charge investigating money laundering by Columbian drug cartels.
Art graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1973 with a degree in criminal justice. Later in life he went back to school at Valencia College in Orlando, Fla. where he earned a degree as a registered nurse.
In 2015, Art moved to Wellington where he served as a home health nurse for Bluebonnet Home Health and Hospice. He loved to fish and watch his granddaughters compete in anything they were doing.
His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son Chris Sumrall and wife Rachelle of Wellington; his daughter Kim Sumrall of Euless, Texas; his grandchildren Savannah Sumrall, Sicily Sumrall and Branson Bannister; two brothers, Paul Sumrall of Slaton and Stanley
Sumrall of Webster, Mass.; and his longtime companion Phyllis Hunter of Mount Pleasant, Penn.
