CHILDRESS – Looking for a last-minute Christmas present? Look no further than the stores right here in Childress. Many will be open through the afternoon on Christmas Eve.
“We have unique gifts,” said Christie Hayes, manager of Rustic Creations. “Some are one of kind.”
Hayes said they have 20 vendors, and some have holiday specials. For example, Rustic Charm is offering 20% off all items, Pat’s Décor is doing 25% off all Christmas items and Cotton Farmer’s Daughter has buy one get one half off on some toys and 25% off others.
Rustic Creations, which is located at 300 Ave. F NE, will be open until 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Sisters Salon & Gifts, which is located at 237 N Main St. in downtown Childress, also has specials for the holidays.
Owner Kim Ivy said Sisters Salon & Gifts is offering 20% off all retail, including women’s clothing, men’s items, jewelry and STS Ranchwear. They also have gift cards available.
“We have lots of stocking stuffers too,” Ivy said. They’ll be open until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23.
Childress Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Susan Leary encourages residents to shop local for multiple reasons. Her first reason is that shopping local supports the Childress community and Childress businesses.
Money spent during the holiday season helps local business owners pay their employees and utility bills, Leary added. With money staying local it keeps businesses in Childress opened and employees employed during the COVID pandemic.
“For every $10 spent, $7 stays in the community,” Leary said. “It’s also safer shopping here than in a community you don’t know who you’re standing in line next to.”
For those looking for children’s and infant clothing, Brit + Co Boutique is the place to go. Located at 507 7th St. NW, they also have women’s clothing and home gifts. They’ll be open until 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 24.
“We truly care about each and every person who walks through our door and we will do the best we can to continue to provide adorable and affordable items for everyone to enjoy,” said Brit + Co Boutique owner Shelby Bocanegra. “We take pride in offering the newest styles at a competitive price.”
Bocanegra said while her boutique provides a fun, happy and easy-going atmosphere, customers can also shop on her Facebook group page Brit + Co Boutique. Another local boutique that customers can shop online for women’s and children’s clothing is Southern Pressed: https://southernpressed.square.site/.
Both Amazing Grace, located at 510 2nd St. NE, and Ballyhoo, located at 807 Ave. F NW, will be open until 3 p.m. on Dec. 24. Ballyhoo owner Arica Lott said she has women’s clothing, home décor, Brighton jewelry, CC Beanies and scarfs, candles and kitchen bakeware and serving pieces that will make great presents for women.
“We offer free gift wrap,” Lott said. “Customers can come in and get an espresso drink and shop while they enjoy their drink, making it a fun event.”
