WELLINGTON — Excitement mounted as the time arrived for the Christmas on the Bricks holiday red ticket drawings. A small crowd gathered but for a big cause, to draw for over 40 prizes provided by Wellington businesses to promote commerce in Collingsworth County this Christmas season.
The cold night at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14 couldn’t even contain Santa and Mrs. Claus as they joined the chamber board members and others for the fun at the downtown Wellington Opportunity Center park venue.
“We want to express our sincere appreciation to the businesses and individuals that donated items for the chamber fundraiser,” said Margret Wood, organizer. “The chamber appreciates also those that purchased red tickets to make the event a huge success.”
Dani Ponder, reigning Lions Club Sweetheart and Miss Wellington, drew 43 tickets from the hopper as Eric Morton, chamber president, turned the drum between each ticket. Master of ceremonies Karen Caldwell, chamber vice president, announced each name drawn.
