Nine sentenced to prison or probation in 100th Judicial District Court

CLARENDON – On Tuesday, Dec. 12, nine pleas took place in the 100th Judicial District Court via the internet-based meeting app Zoom, with the Court sitting in Donley County.
District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District Luke Inman along with Assistant DA Harley Caudle prosecuted the case for the State of Texas with the Honorable Judge Stuart Messer presiding.
Luis Alberto Garcia, 34 from Hedley, was sentenced to six years in prison, then placed on six years probation for the third-degree felony offense of driving while intoxicated 3rd or more. Donley County Deputy Brian Stevens arrested Garcia in Donley County on Sept. 23.
According to the terms of the plea-bargaining agreement, Garcia was ordered to pay a $3,000 fine to Donley County, $60 in restitution and $573 in court costs.
Pamela Alene Pothuisje, 51 from Fritch, was placed on six years probation for the second-degree felony offense of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Carson County Deputy Jeremy Ortegon arrested Pothuisje on Sept. 13.
Pothuisje was ordered to pay a $6,000 fine to Carson County, $340 in court costs, $496.50 in restitution and complete 300 hours of community service. If her probation is revoked, Pothuisje faces up to 20 years in prison.
Joseph Robert Slatten, 25 from White Deer, was placed on three years probation for the third-degree felony offense of evading arrest with a motor vehicle. Carson County Deputy Taner Blackburn arrested Slatten on Oct. 7.
Slatten was ordered to pay a $3,000 fine to Carson County, $340 in court costs and complete 200 hours of community service. If his probation is revoked, Slatten faces up to 10 years in prison.
Felicia Zawn Jacops, 43 from Pampa, was placed on five years probation for the first-degree felony offense of engaging in organized criminal activity. Ortegon arrested Jacops in Carson County on Aug. 19.
Jacops was ordered to pay a $500 fine to Carson County, $340 in court costs and complete 300 hours of community service. If her probation is revoked, Jacops faces up to 99 years or life in prison. Due to the classification of the defendant’s crime, under current Texas law, Jacops will be required to serve at least 50 percent of any prison sentence imposed if her probation is revoked.
Bryan De Jesus Rodriguez, 18 from Cleveland, Texas, was placed on four years probation for the third-degree felony offense of credit or debit card abuse against an elderly person. Childress Police Officer James Palmitier arrested Rodriguez on Jan. 6.
Rodriguez was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine to Childress County, $340 in court costs, $150 in restitution and complete 200 hours of community service. If his probation is revoked, Rodriguez faces up to 10 years in prison.
Amanda Corrin McDonald, 20, of Anchorage, Alaska, was convicted of unlawful use of a criminal instrument and sentenced to 60 days in the Childress County Jail, with credit time served. McDonald was ordered to pay $340 in court costs. DPS Trooper Chad Baize arrested McDonald for the crime in Childress County on Dec. 21, 2019.
Tonya Larsen, 28 from Colorado Springs, Colo., was placed on six years probation for the second-degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance. Childress Police Officer arrested Jessie Zuniga Larsen on Oct. 17.
Larsen was ordered to pay a $6,000 fine to Childress County, $340 in court costs, $180 in drug lab restitution, a $500 out of state probation transfer and complete 300 hours of community service. If her probation is revoked, Larsen faces up to 20 years in prison.
Jason Wayne Horne, 23 from Colorado Springs, Colo., was placed on six years probation for the second-degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance. Zuniga arrested Horne on Oct. 17.
Horne was ordered to pay a $6,000 fine to Childress County, $340 in court costs, $180 in drug lab restitution, a $500 out of state probation transfer and complete 300 hours of community service. If his probation is revoked, Horne faces up to 20 years in prison.
Jeremy Jason Bagwell, 32 from Colorado Springs, Colo., was placed on six years probation for the second-degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance. Zuniga arrested Bagwel on Oct. 17.
Bagwell was ordered to pay a $6,000 fine to Childress County, $340 in court costs, $180 in drug lab restitution, a $500 out of state probation transfer and complete 300 hours of community service. If his probation is revoked, Bagwell faces up 20 years in prison.
