The Red River Sun/Bev Odom
Cotton harvest wraps up across the area as crews pick the field adjacent to Memphis High School last week. Hall County had 20 cotton gins in 1940, many of which operated by electrical power presenting quite a different appearance to the old horsepower gin of yesterday. Now in existence are only three, Memphis Farmers Gin, Lakeview Co-op Gin and Estelline Co-op.
